Tournament Team Coach Selection

Since we've all had our say on player selection (for all-stars/tourny team, etc), I would be interested in finding out what other leagues do as far as selection the Head Coach of the team. In our league, the process is simple: win the league=coach the team. Coach gets to pick his 2 "named" assistants as well as 2 "wild card" player selections. However, some of our board members are looking to put the coach selection (head coach only) into the hands of our board OR have the division's coaches vote. I am opposed to this because if the board approves a coach for regular season, then that person should be qualified to coach the all-star team; if not, then he shouldn't be coaching in the first place.
